Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod (LCMS).

The name "Bethel" is a Hebrew word which means "House of God." When the patriarch Jacob fell asleep on his journey, the Lord appeared to Him in a dream. He saw a ladder betweeen heaven and earth and angels going up and down on the ladder. The Bible says: Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.” And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!” (Genesis 28:16-17)

Jesus later teaches that He Himself is "Jacob's Ladder" when He tells His disciples, “Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.” (St. John 1:51)

Bethel Lutheran Church is truly the House of God. It is here, in the holy ministry of Christ's Gospel and Sacraments that the Lord Himself is present among His people. In the Divine Service of Preaching and Holy Communion, heaven is indeed open to us because our Lord Jesus Christ is here in this place with His holy gifts.

Welcome to Bethel, to the House of God.
